Overview

The 3 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari to Murchison Falls National Park is one of the rewarding short Uganda safaris. The safari takes you to the north of Uganda t the largest National Park in the country which is gifted with the Big five with Rhinos existing in the adjacent Ziwa Sanctuary along with other wild game like giraffes Jackson’s Hartebeest, aquatics like Nile Crocodiles and Hippos. The Park also has the touch of the Nile that flows through it leaving a permanent landmark Murchison Falls that is considered to be the most significant natural feature to ever happen on the course of the Nile. The encounter with Chimpanzees in Budongo Forest is very rewarding.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park. Do Chimpanzee trekking en route in Budongo Forest
After an early breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala, embark on the transfer to Murchison Falls National Park 311km about 5 hours’ drive from Kampala excluding stops en route. You will drive through impressive savannah flat landscapes of Nakasongora District with impressive sceneries of the flat terrain and the area has the most extended flat road section in the whole of Uganda. Proceed to Masindi for a lunch break after which you will head to Budongo Forest for an amazing Chimpanzee trekking in the afternoon beginning at 2pm. The encounter with the Habituated Chimpanzees in the forest of Budongo is very rewarding. Watching them as they feed, play and socialize is interesting. The encounter takes 1 hour of direst touch with them while the whole exercise may stretch from 2 – 5 hours. Retreat from the activity to transfer to Murchison Falls National Park arriving in the evening cross with the ferry and connect to the lodge for relaxation dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Do Morning game drive & afternoon Nile Launch Cruise
After an early cup of coffee, embark on the drive in the northern section of the park in search of wild game. The drive exposes you to opportunities of seeing Rothschild Giraffes, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Elephants, Buffaloes, Lions, leopard, Oribi, Waterbuck, dik-dik, Kobs among others thriving in their rolling savannah combretum that stretch up to the delta area and the simple thicket patch inhabits the predators. Retreat from the 3 – 4 hour activity to return to the lodge for relaxation an lunch after which your will gather at Paraa jetty for an afternoon Nile launch cruise. The Nile Launch Cruise starts at 2pm and stretches up to the bottom of the Murchison Falls – the world’s most powerful waterfall. The 3 hour boat cruise offers you possibilities of encountering Nile crocodiles, Hippos, birds like Shoebill stork and counts of wild game drinking on the river side. Retreat from the activity to return to the lodge for relaxation dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Visit the top of the falls & transfer to Kampala. Do white Rhino tracking in Ziwa Sanctuary en route
After breakfast, cross the ferry to the southern section of the park and drive to the top of the falls to have an encounter with the magical Murchison Falls as the waters of the Nile are squeezed to pass through an 8m ravine forming a plume of spray and a thunderous roar before falling 43m below to what has been termed as the Devil’s Cauldron marked with a trade mark rainbow. The site has got amazing scenery and birds like enchanting themselves around the roaring sound. Proceed on the drive to move out of the park and drive up to Ziwa Sanctuary for the tracking. You will branch off at Nakitoma for 7 km to Ziwa Headquarters form where you will trek the Rhinos which only exists here in the whole of Uganda. After the activity, embark on the drive back to Kampala
